COLD AIR INTAKES 

 

A Cold Air intake system relocates the filter outside of the engine compartment to deliver the coolest air inlet temperatures possible. Cooler air carries more oxygen, which translates into a more intense explosion in the combustion chamber to create more horsepower and torque. But that's only part of the power equation. Tuning the inlet pipe in length and diameter to match the engine's resonance helps move more air to the cylinders (think of your engine as a big air pump), and this tuning allows us to deliver the maximum power gains throughout the entire RPM range. We also monitor fuel trim correction factors and all OBDII sensors during R&D to eliminate leaning the engine out and/or throwing a check engine light. Our Cold Air systems are dyno-proven and tested against the competition with the goal of creating more useable power than any other system of their kind. Every AEM Cold Air induction system features the highest standards of construction and we are so confident in their fit and performance that we guarantee them for the life of your vehicle. All AEM Cold Air systems are either 50-state legal or pending (excluding "Off Road" and "Hybrid" systems), include a lifetime DRYFLOW Synthetic air filter and come with a limited lifetime warranty.

 

 

SHORT RAM INTAKES 

 

AEM Short Ram intake systems are an economical alternative to our Cold Air systems and deliver performance, value and ease of installation over any other short inlet intake. Our Short Ram intakes install easily under the hood and cost less because we use less material to manufacture them.

During the development process, we found certain applications respond favorably to shorter inlet lengths over our longer Cold Air designs. For these applications (denoted in the search results page), we offer a Short Ram system only. We perform extensive temperature testing to locate the filter in the coolest area of the engine compartment, which allows our Short Ram systems to achieve the lowest inlet temperatures possible. V2 INTAKES

AEM’s V2 intake systems use a patented dual chamber design that maximizes horsepower and torque - producing even more power that our own Cold Air systems.

On a dyno graph, the area under the power band (or power curve) represents the amount of effort that an engine is producing. The larger the overall area under the curve, the more power your engine is making. The AEM V2 utilizes a dual chamber (using two different diameters and lengths of piping) that creates multiple frequency sound waves to produce the largest area under the curve of any intake system on the market. These sound waves help charge the cylinders with more air throughout the entire rpm range and are what enables the V2 to outperform even our own Cold Air systems.

We have found that inlet length plays a vital role in the power production of V2 systems and not all V2 induction systems relocate the filter outside of the engine compartment. In these cases, we performed extensive temperature testing to locate the filter in the coolest area of the engine compartment to achieve the lowest inlet temperatures possible. HYBRID INTAKES

So you’ve swapped an H22 into your EG Civic…now what do you do about getting an intake that fits? Do you order one for the chassis, or for the engine? Will a chassis system fit, or will it sacrifice performance, or both? Relax, we’ve done the R&D for you!

AEM Hybrid intakes are direct-fit intakes for Hondas and Acuras with engine swaps, and eliminate the need to buy a system that doesn’t fit and have to cut it up, which voids the warranty. Hybrid intakes install using standard tools with no additional modifications. We designed our Hybrid intakes for high-output engines with internal engine modifications like cams and porting, and manufacture them using three-inch mandrel bent aircraft aluminum for maximum flow. Since we design our Hybrid intakes for cars with engine swaps, they are intended for off-road use only and are not 50-state legal

 

BRUTE FORCE INTAKES

AEM designs its BRUTE FORCE intakes for popular trucks, SUVs and late-model, fuel injected musclecars, and dyno-tunes each system to produce more torque and horsepower for large displacement engines. We test against the competition with the goal to outperform all other offerings.

Our mechanical engineers emphasize tuning the resonance properties of the inlet pipe to help carry more air to the intake valves. We route our plumbing so that the filter draws air from the safest and coolest location, and provide a steel powdercoated heat shield to shroud the filter from engine heat and road dirt. Every BRUTE FORCE intake we make is 50-state legal or pending legality (excluding “Off Road” systems), and we guarantee them for life.

BRUTE FORCE HD INTAKES

AEM (Advanced Engine Management) is proud to release its Brute Force HD intakes for diesel applications with a massive DRYFLOW filter element! AEM Brute Force HD intakes are available for popular late model Cummins, Duramax and PowerStroke Diesel engines. We engineer our Brute Force HD intakes to deliver maximum flow, filtration and durability for heavy duty applications and they even outperform the company's BRUTE FORCE intakes for these vehicles in both dust holding capacity and filter flow.

AEM's reusable DRYFLOW air filter for its Diesel applications is engineered to allow for longer service life and higher efficiency for maximum performance in between servicing (more DRYFLOW key features are below). Compared to the standard 9" Brute Force Dryflow Filter, the Brute Force HD Dryflow filter features over twice the surface area of filter media and utilizes deep, bull-nosed pleats to improve dust holding capacity and increase intervals between cleanings. The DRYFLOW does not use oil to trap dirt, which eliminates any chance of overoiling the filter element, takes the guesswork out of servicing your filter and dramatically reduces filter cleaning time.

AEM manufactures its BruteForceHD intakes from mandrel-bent, lightweight 6063 aluminum with high-strength dogbone brackets and dual rubber soft mounts for maximum durability, and includes a heat shield (when applicable) with a powdercoated black finish, a complete hardware kit and comprehensive photo installation instructions. Brute Force HD intakes are available with a gunmetal powdercoat or mirror-polished finish.

AIR BYPASS VALVE FOR COLD AIR

 

AEM’s patented Air Bypass Valve virtually eliminates the chance of hydro-lock in the event the filter of your AEM Cold Air induction system becomes submerged in water. On most systems, the valve installs along the upper portion of the inlet pipe and shuts down induction at the filter when it becomes submerged, rerouting air through its external diaphragm to keep water out and air flowing in. Check with your dealer or call AEM for more information on air bypass valve installation locations. The AEM Air Bypass Valve is C.A.R.B. exempt on AEM Cold Air induction systems only and is NOT for use on forced induction vehicles. Patent #6,394,128.
